So many artists around the world. Only a few succeed because only a tiny fragment understands the opportunity banging on the door and is willing to work for it.
I have met so many talented musicians, who THINK they are actually doing it right, yet just a bunch who actually have chances of success.
You can’t really be successful if you are not commited and to be commited you have to understand that MUSIC is a JOB. It’s not the 9-5 kind of job of course… it’s the STARTUP kind of job meaning you need to work on it every single day, 10-12 hours or more and still make room for your other life as well.
Do you really believe spending 4-8 hours per week working with your band is enough to cut it out as an artist worldwide or even nationwide? Do you actually believe there’s any line of work out there that you can succeed in by spending fewer than 40 hours per week on it?
If you are not willing to see your music as a product and yourself as a brand you can’t expect much from others.
If you don’t understand why then you have to start thinking like a promoter, a festival organiser, an advertiser. Ask yourself what exactly you have to offer that makes you worthy enough to be considered for paid work or at least for a featured festival position.
If you consider yourself an ARTIST and you want to succeed, think again: what activity of yours is benefiting your art and what isn’t?
Are you perhaps undervaluing your product out there by constantly gigging, jamming etc.?
People won’t pay for something they can find for FREE anywhere and anytime. Why would they? Would you?
Are you preoccupied with so many bands you don’t have the time to dedicate to where it’s really needed?
What are you doing TODAY to prepare yourself to perform in front of an audience of thousands?
What are you doing TODAY to prepare for a real opportunity that comes up?
Stop being misoriented and fuzzy. Decide NOW who you are. Are you an ARTIST or an ARTIST WANNABE?
